Gathers data by remote telemetry or by local extraction to
give rainfall patterns and volumes. Dynamic Logic have a special section called
OPT and Logmaster within the operational software that allows the data to be
presented and used for later analysis both graphically and numerically.
Tipping Bucket Rain Gauges A Rain Gauge is defined as a Instrument for
measuring the depth of water from precipitation that is assumed to be
distributed over a horizontal, impervious surface and not subject to
evaporation.
A popular device for rainfall monitoring is the Tipping
bucket rain gauge which consists of a funnel that focuses water through an
orifice in a cylindrical outer container. The water then fills one of two small
"buckets" placed on a lever. When filled, the bucket "tips", emptying the water
and moving the opposing bucket underneath the funnel. This tipping action is
shown above right. A data logger or outstation records the time at which the
bucket tipped. In general, each tip of the buckets represents either 0.01
inches or 1 mm (depending on the construction of the buckets) of liquid
precipitation. |
